My Contribution

Back in the mid-20th Century, Skotch Kooler was all the rage. But like all fads, Skotch fever didn't last forever. In 2017, after almost four decades of silence, the Skotch trademark was resurrected for a new generation.

More than plaid-itudes

First and foremost, we were tasked with helping to reinvent the iconic product's image — without losing its original low-fidelity charm. Across the new website and various print materials, our challenge was in authentically capturing that sense of history in the product voice and visual aesthetic.

My biggest contribution to the revamped brand identity was in developing a brand-new product history for the website. Unlike many products, Skotch actually has a long and intriguing history that's worth reliving — and I wanted to pay proper tribute to its iconic status.

Product booklets

In addition to web and digital work, we created a series of fun product booklets that were reminiscent of original Skotch branding (hand-drawn cartoons, quirky copy, etc.).

I also compiled all the various warnings, wrapped them all into the brand voice and put it all into a nice-looking product manual. It may not look like much, but it's a far cry better than the Word document they were sending to customers previously.

I love the historical narrative. Really nailed it.
